Wyre and District Riding Club was established at the end of 2020 after a decline in local grassroots shows due to covid restrictions. Where the existing committee from Barton was disbanded as the covid restrictions made it financially unviable for the current owners of the venue to make it safe for us to use in the current climate.

Wyre was founded by a small committee Caroline, Sian, Lindsay and Shell and started the first show May 2021 at the kind permission of Jayne Pimbley to use her premises to hold our first show.

After a successful first show Kim Joined the team and then after the second show the success of the club growing in popularity, we outgrew Pegram's Farm and held our third show at Valiants, Out Rawcliffe at the kind permission of Egdar Wallace, with the lovely Doreen Gardner stepping back on her former home turf to judge for us.

Our second season saw us move to the show field on Crook gate lane Out Rawcliffe owned by Mr and Mrs Nicholson. Who kindly let us use the field for the next 3 seasons. In our first season and only being able to run 3 shows we had just over 100 members on record, whereas today we finished the season with over 180. This shows our little club has grown successfully over the last few years at our show field on Crook gate Lane, Out Rawcliffe.

Sadly however the great British weather has had a great impact financially on the running of the show and we made the decision during 2024, to move to Myerscough for a guaranteed show throughout the season and to keep grass roots shows going, and this is our ethos behind what we do in a fun and friendly way, ensuring each one of our members feels part of our Wyre family. Over these years we also saw the election of Lisa, Karen, Karan, Andy, Brad and Gill to the committee.

Wyre has been lucky to affiliate to Stars Champion of Champions and has sent a team for the last 5 years. Our first year coming joint 11th and our second year coming joint 10th, something we felt was a great achievement in such a short time.

However, in our 3rd year to win 'Supreme Riding Club of the year' at Stars has blown us away. We dared to dream as a club and dream big we did. Having just one class win as a club is a great achievement but to achieve 4 over the course of the show, amongst other placings shows the dedication and time spent by each, and every member is faultless, and our success is down to them.

In our 4th year we did not sit back on the sidelines and again came in the top ten clubs with a respectable 6th place and we look forward to this year's competition.

Sadly, over the course of this year Caroline and Gill have both stood down as members of the committee and we have newly elected members Melanie, Sally and most recently Louise.

Your current committee taking you into the new 2026 season consists of:

Sian, Kim, Shell, Karan, Sally, Melanie, Karen and Louise.
