TGCA: The Traditional Gypsy Cob Association. Affiliation Number TGCA 26/ /
Quest TGCA TOYS In Hand and Ridden Classes. No known breeding required to enter these classes:
TGCA Breed classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show “TOYS”. Classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs.
Part Bred classes, are open to all part bred traditional gypsy cobs and are qualifiers for the part bred finals at “TOYS”. The exhibit must have one parent that is pure bred traditional gypsy cob.
Stallions – All stallions (pure or part bred, four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class MUST be TGCA registered, have passed TGCA stallion evaluations and their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle.
Stallions and colts over the age of two, MUST be shown in a stallion bridle with a metal bit and chain lead as per the current TGCA rulebook.
Current TGCA members must present their Membership card and Qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non-members MUST receive a qualification card from the judge and have 21 days to join the TGCA and register their horse to validate the qualification.

TGCA Championship Show Classes TGCA Qualifying Class Sections –Traditional Gypsy Cobs – TOYS Best of Breed Finals All classes are open to traditional gypsy cobs, which are of any colour and meet the TGCA breed standard.
Youngstock In Hand Senior Ridden Open to fillies, colts and geldings aged 1, 2 and 3 Years old Open to mares, stallions and geldings aged 4 years and over.
This class can be done as an open height class or split as per below: Small - Not to exceed 148cm Large - 148cm and above Open to mares, stallions and geldings aged 4 years and over. . This class can be done as an open height class or split as per below: Small - Not to exceed 148cm Large - 148cm and above You may combine youngstock and in hand senior into one class. We ask that you hold a minimum of one ridden and one in hand class
Quest for a Star Championship - Traditional Gypsy Cobs 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the TGCA classes above may go forward to the Quest for a Star Championship as per below rule. ONLY current TGCA members and horse/pony that is already TGCA registered can exhibit in this championship. Membership card and Members qualification card (specific to that exhibit) must be presented upon entry into the ring.
Youngstock, Seniors and Ridden will be split for Quest for a Star Championship purposes with a separate Quest Championship for each section. The Champion and Reserve qualify for the Quest Ultimate Star Championships at TOYS. The Greatest Gelding Award - Traditional Gypsy Cobs The award is aimed to encourage the showing of geldings, therefore creating a market for often unwanted colt foals and enabling the creation of a network of potential performance prospects to represent the best Traditional Gypsy Cob breed in the World at the highest level. This Award should be given to the highest placed registered Traditional Gelding. The judge will award this within the classes/championship.

The show is now in partnership with Arena UK in Allington, Lincolnshire and will be held from 5th to 8th August 2026. “This Show is affiliated to Equifest, taking place at Arena UK between the 65h to 8th August 2026.
The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify.” Please check the society website for class definitions.
Competitors may qualify for Equifest up to the end of July and can enter any championship class that they qualified for between the 12th July – 31st July at Equifest as long as they have their signed and dated Equifest Qualification card.

We do not give qualifying cards in classes 11-18 (novelties) 25-28, 38 & 41 (equitation & RC horse/pony) or 56, 57 & 58 AT THE ANNUAL SHOW.

Classes and criteria for TSR Amateur Show:
The two highest placed amateur exhibits not already qualified will qualify for the relevant TSR Amateur of the Year Final class to be held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on 28th and 29th November
EXHIBITS DO NOT NEED TO BE MEMBERS TO QUALIFY - TSR MEMBERSHIP WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THEM TO COMPETE IN THE FINALS
1. COLOURED HORSE/PONY RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Ponies: Open Ridden Piebald/Skewbald, stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Spurs must not be worn. Ponies under 153 cms. Horses: Open Ridden Piebald/Skewbald, stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year Spurs may be worn by adult riders. Animals 153cms and over.
2. MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND SMALL BREEDS RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A and Welsh B. Stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year and suitably mounted. Spurs must not be worn.
3. MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND LARGE BREEDS RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Fells, Dales, Highlands, New Forests, Connemara, Welsh C and Welsh D. Stallion, mare or gelding 4 years and over. Riders any age except for those on stallions who must have attained their 14th birthday by 1st January of the current year. Spurs must not be worn.
4. LEAD REIN MOUNTAIN AND MOOLAND RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies registered with their Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A or B. Mares or geldings 4 years old and over, not exceeding 128cms. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but not have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle, the lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.
5. FIRST RIDDEN MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies registered with their Pure Bred Societies of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A or B. Mares or geldings 4 years old and over not exceeding 128cms. Riders must have attained their 3rd birthdays but not attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.
6. PLAITED PONY RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open plaited pony, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 153cms. Any suitably mounted rider. Spurs must not be worn.
7. LEAD REIN PLAITED RIDDEN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Lead Rein Pony mare or gelding not exceeding 128cms. Riders to have attained their 3rd birthday but not their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.
8. FIRST RIDDEN PLAITED AMATEUR OF THE YEAR First Ridden Pony, mare or gelding not exceeding 128cms. Riders to have attained their 3rd birthday but not their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.
9. RIDDEN RIDING HORSE/HACK AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open to Hacks and Riding Horses. mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Exceeding 148cms but Hacks not exceeding 160cms. Riders must have attained their 15th birthday by the day of the Show Spurs may be worn by adult riders.
10. RIDDEN COB AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open Ridden Cob, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Exceeding 148cms. To be shown hogged and trimmed. Riders must have attained their 15th birthday by the day of the Show Spurs may be worn by adult riders.
11. RIDDEN HUNTER AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open Ridden Hunter, mare or gelding, 4 years old and over. Exceeding 148cms.Riders must have attained their 15th birthday by the day of the Show. Spurs may be worn by adult riders.
12. RIDDEN VETERAN AMATEUR OF THE YEAR Open to horses and ponies of any breed, type and height, 15 years and over. Riders of any age, suitably mounted – animals will not be galloped. Spurs not to be worn. Blemishes are not taken into consideration.

Concourse d’Elegance of Great Britain. https://www.eqconcoursgb.com August 30th is our qualifier for this championship show to be held Friday 25th & Saturday 26th September 2026.
First, second and third placed horses/ponies not already qualified in eligible classes will qualify for the Champion of Britain.
If a horse/pony has already qualified, cards may be handed down to 6th place at judge’s discretion.
Each qualified horse/pony will receive a qualification card in the ring which will enable the owner to enter the Championship Show, provided the owner and rider/handler are, or become registered with the Concours d’Elegance Society within 21 days of the qualifying show.
No horse registration is required.

SSADL Home Produced Qualifiers are OPEN to both Members and Non-Members of SSADL No Spurs with the exception to adult side saddle riders, who are allowed a Spur Band, Dummy or Blunt Spur.
No Galloping or canter extensions, For Riders/Handlers- No Wearing of Face/Body Jewellery with the exception to the earring used by competitors with health problems. Foals are NOT permitted SSADL Classes.
For In-Hand Classes- Minimum age of handler = 11 years old.
First Ridden ponies/riders will be asked after the initial walk round to come into the centre of the ring.
First Ridden Competitors will only canter in their individual shows.
Lead Rein Riders/First Ridden competitors: If a strip section is required a lead rein rider MUST stay mounted.
STALLIONS- Either for In Hand or Ridden classes, Competitors Must be 16 years of age or over.
Competitors cannot enter the ring once the command of trot
has been given.
The same rider/handler/pony/horse combination must stay the same from qualifier to Grand Finals, unless special circumstances should arise, then it will be left to the discretion of the Directors and Advisory Committee to oversee this rule if required.

2026 Qualification System: SSADL Members will receive their own qualification card. This is to be signed in the at time of judging/presentation.
This is the members’ responsibility to ensure the right qualifier is signed for.
1. 1st to 6th in each age group will qualify for the MCO CONSULTANCY LTD /SSADL London International Horse Show 2nd round qualifier 2026.
2. 1st to 6th from each AGE section will qualify for the SSADL
Members Open Challenge. (Lead Rein Ponies are NOT permitted) Open to all types and Breeds.
Members Mountain and Moorland Challenge. (Lead Rein Ponies are NOT permitted)
Members Foreign Breeds Challenge.
The 6 highest placed Lead/or First Ridden Members Lead Rein/First Ridden Challenge
1st – 3rd in each age group will qualify for the Senior of Year Championship
( If a competitor has already qualified the qualification can be passed down the line).
Once a member has filled out their qualification card to the relevant classes then said card must be sent into the Office by normal post no later than the 30th August 2026.

Non – Members Qualification cards will be handed out in the ring to the six highest placed competitors in each section

3. 4. Qualification cards MUST be returned to SSADL Head Office within the 10-day period of date of show along with a 2025 Membership application completed and payment made.
Once a qualification card/membership is sent in correctly along with payment only then will Members be eligible for the Members Challenge Preliminary rounds and
Challenge Finals to the held at the SSADL National Championship Show on the 19th & 20th September 2026 at Onley Grounds, Rugby, Warwickshire.

Rules, Eligibility and Qualifying Classes
All classes at this show are run under The Friendly Showing Society (TFSS) Official Rulebook (v1.0, effective from 20 January 2026).
By entering, all competitors confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by the TFSS Rules and the conditions set out in this schedule. The TFSS Rulebook applies in full unless otherwise stated within this schedule. In all matters of welfare, safety, eligibility, and conduct, TFSS Rules take precedence.
TFSS Qualifying Classes
The following classes may be offered as TFSS qualifiers, in-hand and/or ridden, where approved.
Only those classes formally approved by TFSS may be run as qualifying classes at this show.
Classes may include, but are not limited to:
● Open Cob
● Open Coloured Horse or Pony
● Open Riding Horse / Hack
● Open Hunter
● Open Mountain and Moorland
● Veteran Horse or Pony
Specific class conditions will be stated in the individual class descriptions.
Qualification
● 1st place qualifies
● 2nd place qualifies only if 1st has already qualified
● Qualifications do not automatically pass down the line
● Qualification may be withheld if, in the Judge’s opinion, the required standard has not been met
● Qualification is horse or pony specific and not transferable
The Judge’s decision is final.
It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that qualification cards are correctly completed, signed, and dated by the Judge, and that a clear copy of the horse or pony’s passport identification page is submitted in accordance with TFSS instructions.
TFSS accepts no responsibility for missing, incomplete, or incorrectly submitted documentation.
Horse Welfare
Horse welfare is the overriding principle at all TFSS-affiliated competitions.
The Judge, Steward, or Show Officials reserve the right to:
● Inspect tack, bits, spurs, and equipment at any time
● Eliminate competitors where welfare or safety is compromised
● Refuse entry to, or remove, any horse or pony deemed unfit, distressed, lame, exhausted, or unsafe
In the interests of safety and welfare, any fall of horse, rider, or handler will result in immediate disqualification. The Judge’s decision is final.
Eligibility
● Horses and ponies must be four years old or over to compete in both in-hand and ridden classes
● Stallions are permitted unless otherwise stated in the schedule and must be correctly registered and handled or ridden by a competent adult
● Junior competitors may not ride or handle stallions
Any additional eligibility requirements will be stated in the individual class description.
Tack and Equipment
All tack must be safe, correctly fitted, and appropriate to the class.
Training aids are not permitted in the competition ring.
Any tack, bit, or equipment deemed inappropriate by the Judge or Steward may be prohibited.
Judges and Stewards
All Judges officiating at TFSS qualifying classes must be members of the TFSS Approved Judges Panel.
Stewards act on behalf of TFSS and have authority to enforce the Rules in the interests of welfare and safety.
All judging decisions are final.
Conduct, Behaviour and Social Media
Abuse of horses, officials, judges, stewards, volunteers, or competitors will not be tolerated.
Unsporting behaviour, including defamatory, abusive, or inflammatory comments made online by competitors or their associates acting on their behalf, which are likely to bring TFSS, its officials, or its competitions into disrepute, may be treated as a breach of TFSS Rules.
TFSS reserves the right to issue warnings, eliminate competitors, withdraw qualification, or refuse future participation.
Insurance and Liability
All competitors enter and compete entirely at their own risk.
By running TFSS qualifying classes, the organising show confirms that it holds valid public liability insurance.
Neither TFSS nor the Show Organisers accept responsibility for any loss, damage, injury, accident, or illness however caused.
